TŘINECKÉ ŽELEZÁRNY HAS LAUNCHED A VACCINATION CENTRE FOR EMPLOYEES

At the end of last week, the operation of the Třinecké železárny (TŽ) vaccination centre started. This is done by pilot vaccination of employees with a chronic disease or with a potentially high risk of a severe impact of the COVID-19 disease, who voluntarily registered in the company register. The paramedics of the AGEL Třinec-Podlesí Hospital vaccinated them with Pfizer.

The establishment of vaccination centres in companies was already enforced in January by the Confederation of Industry and Transport. "Thanks to the involvement of occupational physicians and corporate health care providers in the vaccination, companies will contribute to faster vaccination of people in the country. In addition, company doctors will relieve practitioners, "said Jaroslav Hanák, President of the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic.

Over the course of two days, 148 employees were inoculated at Třinecké železárny. When there are enough vaccines for the entire population, it will be the turn of the other applicants.

The company prepared a vaccination centre in the premises of the former civil defense shelter inside the complex, which it adapted appropriately for these purposes. "The centre is arranged so that employees come through one entrance and leave through another. All medical procedures are performed by doctors and nurses of the AGEL Třinec-Podlesí Hospital. Our administrative staff took care of the registration and check-in," explains Ivo Žižka, Director of Human Resources and External Relations at TŽ. There is also a spacious lounge where staff wait 30 minutes before they leave.

The registration system and logistics of the process of vaccinating employees were tailored by the company's IT staff. "It was necessary to take into account all the specifics associated with the steelworks, where the vast majority of employees work on shifts. The system thus assumes that it cannot send employees for vaccination immediately after two night shifts and the like," explains Marian Rusina, Head of the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of TŽ.

The company first invited those interested in vaccinations to send the registration number from their mobile phone by SMS. Then they assigned the given employee to the number and the system then communicates via SMS messages. The employee will receive the date of the first vaccination and a PIN code via an SMS message. In the same way, he will later receive an invitation to revaccinate the second dose. Employees obtain additional information on vaccinations via a website, where they must identify themselves with a mobile number and PIN code.

TŽ intends to start vaccinating for other workers as well. In the optimistic variant already in May. "As soon as there are enough vaccines for all groups of the population, we are ready to start a comprehensive vaccination of all those interested from among our employees. According to a preliminary survey from January, more than 2,000 of our people were interested in vaccinating against covid-19,” concludes Jan Czudek, the TŽ CEO. He assumes that this number will be significantly higher today.
