New Filters capture additional tons of dust.

At least 30 tons of dust per year are captured by the new filtration system at Agglomeration plant 1. This plant, which processes raw materials for blast furnaces, has been equipped by Třinecké železárny with an additional filtration system for transfer points material.

At the both of agglomeration plants, the steelworks produces a charge for blast furnaces from mixture of iron ore dust, coke, and limestone. This charge is then transported by a system of belt conveyors and hoppers to wagons, which are subsequently used to deliver it directly to the blast furnaces. „During the transfer from one conveyor to another, dust levels increase. Particles then enter the air. Therefore, we have installed covers on the trandfer points and equipped them with filtration system with extraction,“ explains Daniel Heczko, the Investment Director of Třinecké železárny.

The filtration device is modern fabric-type systém where dus tis captured by fabric filter pockets. The device can extract 55,000 m3 of polluted air per hour, with a maximum of 10 mg of dust per 1 m3 of air at the outlet after the filter. In practice, it has been shown to be even much less. The filtration device thus removes more than 33 tons of dust from the air per year. The exhaust duc tis equipped with a noise suppressor. The captured dus tis recycled back directly at the facility where it was captured, thus fully applying the principles of the circular economy.

The investment worth 34 milion CZK is already fully operational. The company recevied a subsidy of nearly 15 milion CZK it from the Operational Programme Environment.
